Proud is an understatement! On December 5th, 2022, TIES was presented with the Social Innovator Award for the Prairies region for the 2022 Canada Volunteer Awards! We are so incredibly proud and honoured to receive this award from the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development. Canada’s Volunteer Awards recognize community leaders, not-for-profit organizations, social enterprises and businesses that have made significant contributions to improving the lives of others. Award recipients are highly engaged in their communities and inspire Canadians to make a difference through volunteering. Canadian communities continue to thrive thanks to the generous efforts of the country’s 12.7 million volunteers. Through Canada’s Volunteer Awards, the Government of Canada recognizes those volunteers who go above and beyond to support their communities and their country. This year’s Social Innovator Award recognizes the work that TIES and our volunteers have done to make our community more resilient and welcoming.
On behalf of our President & CEO, Sally Zhao; Suman Khanal, Chief Program Officer, and Irina Copil, Manager of Drop-In ESL and Volunteer Programs, accepted the award for TIES and were presented with lapel pins in recognition of the 2022 Canada Volunteer Awards.
We salute all of the other winners throughout Canada.
